Mount Meru is the second mountain in Tanzania and fourth one in Africa with 4565 meters high. The mountain become well known because is only 70 kilometer from mountain Kilimanjaro. The mountain is an active but dormant volcano located northern part of Arusha in Tanzania. Climbing Mount Meru is about 15 km from the national park entrance and firstly you should pass through a savannah where possibility you will spot buffaloes and giraffes. At the lower slopes of Meru mountain you will find parkland, grassland and a rainforest with red-hot pokers and Spanish moss. The giant heather zone and the moorlands are wooded by giant lobelias. Close to the summit you can spot beautiful flowers in this alpine desert.
To climb up to the summit of mount Meru you need two or three nights on the mountain. At the summit you will have wonderful views of the Ash Cone within the crater.
